Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi, my name is Lara. I’ve recently moved from a public school in Indonesia and this is my first year at Bangkok Patana School.

Why did you get involved in the Bangkok Patana 2041 project?
I’ve always been interested in global concerns and problems, however, I’ve never really gotten a chance to make a change and I’ve always had the mind-set that only adults can make a change in the world. But, that soon changed when Rebecca asked me if I wanted to be involved in the Bangkok Patana 2041 Project. I wanted to help her be that pebble that starts the ripple that inspires our generation to actually do something. And I’ve always loved doing art and this was another way to express creativity.

What was your starting point when considering the design for the Bangkok Patana 2041 logo?
I was trying to create a certain design that would represent Bangkok Patana School, Antarctica, 2041 and unity.

Where did you find inspiration?
I looked up the requirements of a good logo such as eye catching, simple and able to convey the message. I also searched up examples of great logos and discovered that although they are simple, they need lots of thinking as most of them are like illusions – you can see it in two different ways and yet the message of the logo can still get across.

What other designs did you consider and why did you decide on this one?
I made two initial designs, a penguin with all the school colours on it and the Antarctica island that was separated by the number 2041. However, it didn’t scream unity and I wasn’t 100% happy. I came by my final design by accident; I was playing around trying to make the logo “geometrically beautiful” by drawing circles. I chose that final design because I felt that it incorporates the fact that we need the cooperation of the entire world to make a change.

What other design plans do you have for Bangkok Patana 2041?
I am ready to make any posters or design needed for 2041. I have lots of ideas and I would love to contribute more and help Rebecca and Bangkok Patana School in any way.

What are your aspirations for the future?
I want to be the change that inspires other people. That is what I want to do in the future. I hope to find something I feel strongly about in the world and perhaps find the opportunity to make a better change in the world.
